How to Build a Cohesive, Commercial Jewellery Collection

Liz Olver, Design Director and Jewellery Consultant

The November GoldDust Collective Live Session is on Wednesday 26th November 2025, from 12-1pm UK time, live on Zoom.

Join jewellery consultant Liz Olver (MA RCA) for an insightful session on range planning - the process of designing and developing collections that feel unified, scalable, and commercially strong.

Why range planning matters

Beautiful ideas don’t automatically become a sellable collection. Range planning is the bridge between creativity and commercial success: it’s how you design, edit and structure your pieces so they belong together, cover key price points, and invite customers to build a basket.

In this live, one-hour session, jewellery consultant Liz Olver (MA RCA) will show you how to plan a range that’s unified, scalable and commercially strong, without diluting your design identity.

What you’ll learn

  • Cohesion without sameness: How to maintain a clear design language across rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings.

  • Commercial balance: Covering entry, core and hero price points, and why each one matters for cash flow.

  • Assortment strategy: Building families, variants and materials that scale intelligently.

  • Storytelling through design: Turning a creative concept into a collection that’s easy for customers (and retailers) to understand.

  • Gap analysis: Spot what’s missing, what’s over-indexed, and where to add or retire SKUs for healthier sales.

Signs your collection needs a plan

  • You rely on a few hero pieces while other SKUs rarely sell.

  • Customers ask for “the simpler one” or “a smaller version” and you don’t have it.

  • Your price ladder leaps from entry to expensive with nothing in between.

  • Retailers love the look but say the range feels “bitty” or hard to buy.

  • New launches create spikes, but sales aren’t consistent month to month.

If any of these feel familiar, this session is for you.

A simple framework to structure your range

1) Anchor pieces
Your signature designs that define the look and lead visuals.

2) Core sellers
Wearable, repeatable SKUs that sit at accessible price points and carry volume.

3) Extensions
Size/material/stone variants that build families and AOV (e.g., studs → drops → hoops).

4) Story drivers
Limited or seasonal pieces that create press hooks without fragmenting the range.

5) Edit & balance
Review by category, silhouette, materials and price to ensure a smooth ladder and clear upsell paths.
